Drawing with Mindfulness was started in 2018 by artist Rebecca Haysom as a series of drawing workshops with a focus on the psychology of creativity.
ABOUT REBECCA
As a young art student I had a particularly witchy lecturer who showed me how spellbinding drawing could be. In the two decades since then, I've learnt a lot about working in the studio and how to keep it vital and enchanted, which has boiled down to an emphasis on process and the centrality of play.
A life-long interest in storytelling and literature have also shaped how I approach art and teaching. The classes are a way for me to weave together these dual passions and they allow me a place to curate my wide-ranging interests - from cookbook illustrations to poetry.
My goal with all the classes is to create a space that stimulates curiosity, encourages self-exploration and nurtures creativity and compassion.
“ I have loved it so much - it’s the first time I’ve done any kind of drawing where I feel like I’m just enjoying the practice of drawing rather than focusing on the outcome. You structure the theory so well, and tell such lovely stories around each week’s theme.”

“Thank you so much for the wonderful course! I loved your lightness and humor while doing the introductions exposing me to art work that I would never have encountered. I really learned a lot from you - not only in doing my drawings but also to be mindful of my environment and to focus carefully on the things around me.”
— Marrianne
“ It is a very thoughtful exploration of drawing as a medium and a catalyst for making marks that express something. I have always been embarrassed by the squiggles that come out of my fingers and I am now drawing with great joy.”
